In his new position, Dr. Brown serves as the firm’s U.S. bridge asset management leader, responsible for leading the team of bridge experts to provide such services as condition evaluation of bridges and structures; development of preventive maintenance, repair and rehabilitation programs; and structural load testing and in-situ monitoring, including instrumentation and data analysis.
Dr. Brown has over 15 years of experience in bridge condition evaluation, corrosion evaluation and mitigation, bridge maintenance, preservation and rehabilitation and five additional years of experience in evaluation and repair of buildings and parking structures. His areas of expertise include: researching innovative applications for structural design and materials, maintenance and rehabilitation of highway transportation structures, and asset management of bridges and other transportation structures.
Prior to joining WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff, Dr. Brown was associate director of the Virginia Transportation Research Council, managing a team of researchers and technicians that conducted research, technical assistance and technology transfer activities regarding bridges and transportation structures, highway pavements, and transportation-related geotechnical engineering in support of the Virginia Department of Transportation central office divisions and engineering districts.
A licensed professional engineer in Virginia, Dr. Brown holds Ph.D., M.S., and B.S. degrees in civil engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University. He is a fellow of the American Concrete Institute, and member of American Society of Civil Engineers. He also serves on committees of the Transportation Research Board.
