In his new position, Mr. Spry is responsible for a managing the architectural lighting practice in Seattle which is involved with such projects as the Amazon Spheres, Southport Hotel, 2nd and University Mixed Use and Federal Way High School.
An established professional within the lighting industry for over 20 years, Mr. Spry has obtained an ever increasing range of experience, from product design and manufacture through project management, design, construction and post-construction, nationally and internationally. Prior to joining WSP he held lead positions in lighting design, most recently managing the lighting department for a Seattle electrical contractor.
“Richard is passionate about light and its effect on our built environment and the people that inhabit it,” said Melanie Taylor, vice president and national architectural lighting director at WSP. “He is equally passionate about sustainable design and the effective translation of design ideas to real and lasting built structures and spaces.”
Mr. Spry received a master of science (MSc), built environment - light and lighting from the Bartlett School of Architecture, University College, London and a master of arts (MA) from the University of Aberdeen in Scotland. He is a member of the Illuminating Engineering Society.
