NEW YORK, NY — David Lambert, former assistant commissioner of capital program management and chief engineer for the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT), has joined WSP USA, a leading engineering and professional services consultancy, as a senior structural manager.
Lambert will be based in WSP’s Lawrenceville, N.J. office and be responsible for managing, directing and leading transportation projects, including complex bridge engineering projects, as well as providing technical direction on design and project development for construction projects.
During his 35-year career at NJDOT, Lambert served in roles of increasing responsibility, and was most recently assistant commissioner of capital project management. In that role, he was responsible for managing a workforce of 1,100 employees in six divisions. He was also the state transportation engineer, representing the NJDOT on several industry technical organizations. He was the New Jersey representative to the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials, and joined many technical committees over the years.
At NJDOT, Lambert managed many large, high-profile projects as project and program manager, with direct responsibility for the I-295/I-195 Interchange in Trenton; the Route 1&9 Southbound Viaduct in Newark; the Route 9 Viesser Bridge project; the Route 9 Edison Bridge Reconstruction; the Ocean City-Longport Bridge Replacement; and the Route 52 Causeway Bridge Replacement Project in Ocean City.
Lambert received a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from Lafayette College and is a registered professional engineer in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
