HOUSTON — James Caughorn has been promoted to Houston transportation and infrastructure area manager of WSP USA, a leading engineering and professional services consultancy.
Caughorn, who had been serving as a senior project manager and civil lead for the firm’s Texas/Mountain region, will be responsible for managing operations, overseeing project delivery, and growing and diversifying the business in Houston and Southeast Texas.
“James has been in the Houston area for a long time, so he knows first-hand the pressure our clients are under to meet the needs of the region’s growing population, and the transportation and infrastructure challenges that come with it,” said Arpit Talati, regional manager for WSP’s Texas/Mountain region. “With more than 250 people in our Houston and Southeast Texas business, James has a tremendous local team to support our clients and grow our business.”
Since joining WSP, Caughorn has been overseeing project delivery of all Houston transportation and infrastructure projects, developing local business relationships, leading strategic pursuits, and serving as principal-in-charge and project manager for several WSP projects in the region. Prior to joining WSP he was a project manager and group leader for other engineering consulting firms based in Houston.
Caughorn is a graduate of the University of Mississippi with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. A licensed Texas Professional Engineer, he is a member of the American Council of Engineering Companies, Transportation Advocacy Group, and the American Society of Highway Engineers.
The Houston office of WSP has been involved with several significant transportation projects, including program manager for the widening of the I-10 Katy Freeway, general planning consultant for Houston METRO, and developing the southern preliminary engineering documents for the Texas High Speed Rail project. WSP has also played a major role in delivery of some of the largest design-build projects throughout Texas, such as the DFW Connector, Dallas Horseshoe, U.S. 183 Bergstrom in Austin, and Loop 1604 in San Antonio.
