NEW YORK — Peter Waldt is bringing nearly four decades of experience to WSP USA, a leading engineering and professional services consultancy, as the firm’s new director of commercial planning and development.
In his new role with the firm’s Advisory Services, Waldt will be leading efforts to find commercial value in public transportation, rail and highway sectors, as well as property portfolio management for clients. He will leverage WSP’s capabilities and expertise across multiple sectors to provide superior value through collaboration with clients.
Waldt brings experience in asset monetization and transit-oriented development (TOD) transactions, particularly in creating the financial architecture of a project and land value capture. His experience also includes commercial lending and real estate finance, notably for more than 30 stadiums and arenas. He has both private sector real estate advisory and major agency public sector management experience.
“Peter brings a great deal of successful TOD and asset monetization experience to WSP,” said Denise Turner Roth, leader of Advisory Services at WSP USA. “His ability to assess the ‘financial architecture’ and potential land value capture strategies will provide significant value add to our clients.”
Prior to joining WSP, Waldt served as senior director of commercial planning and development for Amtrak, leading a team responsible for Amtrak’s non-fare revenue generation and major station redevelopment transactions. His projects included work on the master developer agreements for the Moynihan Train Hall redevelopment in New York City, Chicago Union Station, and Baltimore Penn Station.
Waldt earned a bachelor’s degree in early American economic history, and a master’s degree in public policy analysis, quantitative analysis and economic development, from the University of Rochester. He is a member of the New Jersey chapter of the Regional Plan Association.
