Bob Brown

North Texas Local Business Leader
United States

A lifelong resident of North Texas, Bob Brown has had a hand in almost every mega transportation program in North Texas. Over his 30 years at TxDOT Dallas and Ft. Worth, he worked closely with local cities, counties and the COG to plan, and deliver a variety of projects from safety improvements to multi-billion-dollar design-build projects. Over the last 10 years at WSP USA, he has served as project director for the DART Silver Line, the DFW Connector project, I-35E Southern Gateway, Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center Dallas master plan and many other projects. “While my 41-year career has been based only in North Texas, I work with colleagues from every part of the world that have chosen to relocate and live and work in north Texas,” Brown explains.

As North Texas is the fastest growing region in the U.S., each agency WSP supports has long range plans to ease congestion and expand their systems, concurrent with the same consideration for quality of life in the planning and design of its infrastructure. “Our team at WSP has longstanding relationships with clients at all agencies,” Brown said. “I believe we are respected for our technical know-how as evidenced by our work on the most technically challenging projects in the region.” The recently completed I-35E Southern Gateway project added new lanes and express lanes, while minimizing new right-of-way acquisition, soundwalls to minimize noise and mitigated environmental impacts. The soon to be constructed Southern Gateway Public Green—a deck park above I-35—will add a space for nature and recreation for the community.

Bob is a board member of the ACEC Dallas chapter with intent to see that industry concerns are heard by clients. He also serves as chair of the North Dallas Chamber of Commerce Surface Transportation Committee to advocate for continued investments in transportation infrastructure.
