Strategies to improve climate resiliency are not only an engineering/infrastructure solution but these are often once in a lifetime investments that offer opportunities to meet multiple goals simultaneously to build a stronger community. We will share insights on an integrated approach to resiliency that focuses on placemaking and the community to leverage infrastructure investments to build neighborhoods where people want to live and cities with great public spaces where people can come together. Case studies from visioning for the LA River; a resiliency strategy for the City of Bridgeport; and how the rebuilding of an obsolete interstate in Miami can connect community and improve equity will provide lessons on the benefits of a people-focused approach to resiliency.
