Position: Software Developer / Senior Software Developer

We are looking to hire a Software Developer / Senior Software Developer to join our growing team. You will be joining a team working on complex web applications with advanced, real-time frontends and backends, integrating and processing hundreds of millions of data points daily. The primary responsibilities of the role include:
Creating user interfaces that ensure end-users can achieve their goals in a simple and enjoyable way,
Researching and driving the adoption of new development technologies.
Working in a fast-moving team of smart technology professionals.
Working face to face with clients and business analysts to provide a technical perspective on product decisions.

Newcastle City Intelligent Platform – a smart data brokerage and visualisation platform designed to make smart city data available to all staff within Newcastle City Council.
Online Forms for the NSW Department of Communities and Justice – we design, implement and support a range of complex forms used by applicants for community housing in NSW.
Melbourne Liveability Monitor – as part of the Melbourne Metro Tunnel project, we designed and built a sensor integration platform which receives, aggregates and analyses data from hundreds of sound, vibration, and air quality sensors. MyRo for VicRoads – we designed and implemented a fully automated, online system that provides real time and credible traffic information during construction works through the use of portable road-side devices.
WHAT WE'LL LOVE ABOUT YOU
The key skills and technology required to succeed in this role are:
Highly proficient Python web development skills (we use Django, including async workflows using Channels),
Source control using Git, SVN or similar.
Knowledge of the following will be highly regarded:
- Implementation of WCAG compliance
- User experience design
- Amazon Web Services
- Data Science (Numpy, Scipy, Pandas etc.)
