New York, NY, USA 8 Spruce Street, New York With its striking rippled facade resembling draped fabric, 8 Spruce Street is an iconic landmark on the New York skyline. The 265 m tower provides 903 high-end apartments offering panoramic views across the city. It sits above a six-storey podium including a public school and a clinic for the New York Downtown Hospital. New York, NY, USA 53w53, New York 53W53, formerly known as the MoMA Tower (or Torre Verre), is not just a super-slender tower but a work of art – as befits a building that will sit above New York’s Museum of Modern Art, and even house 50,000ft2 of additional gallery space in its lower floors. New York, NY, USA 55 Hudson Yards, New York Being close to transport links is usually a major asset for a high-rise development. But from a structural engineer’s point of view, there is perhaps such a thing as being too close. At 760ft (232m), 55 Hudson Yards is not the tallest building on the site, but it is one of the most complicated. It sits not on the Eastern Yard deck, but on the subway station itself, and the brief for the office space was also very specific. Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Government Building in Vancouver A historic building in Vancouver is in growing need of restoration and redevelopment if it is to retain its relevance for the next hundred years and beyond. The Canadian Government wants to improve the building’s performance standards, for the sake of its workers and the environment, and make better use of this valuable space in Vancouver’s central business district. As part of its long-term plan to consider the building’s future, the Canadian Government asked WSP to undertake a feasibility study by creating four different options for the site. Montréal, Québec, Canada The Montreal Tower Repurposing a Montreal symbol and the world’s tallest inclined tower to create a modern and dynamic office space. Mashreq Bank Headquarters, Dubai WSP was commissioned by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill to provide engineering design services, and by Mashreq Bank for construction supervision services, for Mashreq Bank’s new headquarters building, located in Dubai’s Downtown Burj Khalifa district. The 72,000m2 development site is located opposite Dubai Mall and forms part of the Dubai Properties Group Masterplan area adjacent to Financial Centre Road. Stockholm, Sweden Sthlm 01, Stockholm Sthlm 01 is a 27-storey commercial building which will form part of the Stockholm New Creative Business Spaces set in beautiful waterside surroundings to the Swedish capital. The development comprises seven distinctive buildings, of which Sthlm 01 will be the tallest, becoming a landmark in the up-and-coming neighbourhood of Hammarby Sjöstad, an attractive location for offices, close to downtown Stockholm, with good public transport. London, England, UK 22 Bishopsgate, London Accommodating up to 12,000 people, working for many different companies, 22 Bishopsgate, will become the tallest building in the City of London when it is completed. The 62-storey commercial tower will provide a wide range of facilities for occupants while becoming London’s first ‘vertical village’.
