Consultancy and Design Excellence Recognised by Association of Consulting Engineers Singapore

With over 180 members representing 70% of the consulting engineers in Singapore, ACES celebrated its 51st anniversary, as well as the achievements of local consulting engineering firms and professionals with a gala dinner held on 26 June 2022. The ACES Design Excellence Award and the ACES Young Consulting Engineer of The Year were presented to the winning teams and individuals for years 2020-2022.

The award was presented by Desmond Lee, Singapore’s Minister for National Development and Minister-in-charge of Social Services Integration, in recognition of our design and engineering excellence in mechanical & electrical services for Sengkang General & Community Hospital. Chew Keng Peng, Director of Property & Buildings in Singapore, represented our firm to receive the award.

Our team of experts attributed the success of this integrated healthcare development to the design of a robust mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) system that ensures zero chance of failure to safeguard the continuity of the hospital operations.

The hospital was the first healthcare project to fully utilise BIM from the concept stage to the final construction as-built stage. The implementation of Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DfMA) helped shorten on-site installation time and improve the overall productivity. Energy efficiency features such as a high efficiency chilled water system were incorporated resulting in a 30% energy savings.

With our expertise and Future Ready mindset covers every aspect of MEP engineering, we prioritise sustainable and resource-efficient technologies and solutions for the healthcare industry.

We are also delighted that five of our young engineers seized the ACES Young Consulting Engineer of the Year from 2020 to 2022. The award aims to recognise and encourage young consulting engineers in Singapore who have made substantial and sustained contributions to the society, showcasing their strong design and engineering capabilities.
