The Caroline Hill Road Pop-up Community Vaccination Centre is opened on 29 March to offer another vaccination point at Hong Kong’s prime location of Causeway Bay, in a bid to boost vaccination as the city battles against the fifth wave of COVID-19 outbreak. The venue is provided free of charge to the Hong Kong Government by the landlords, Hysan Development and the Chinachem Group.
Working alongside with Hysan, Chinachem, the authority and other top industry players, WSP Hong Kong office tailored the MEP design to meet the tight schedule of completing the centre within three weeks. We ensured adequate MEP provisions including air conditioning, high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filters, ventilation requirement and lighting to support the centre’s operation while providing a smooth and comfortable experience for users.
Apart from availability of equipment and materials, short authority approval time and limited plant space, reliability is a key consideration of our MEP team to eliminate any chance of service interruption. We strategically located the equipment such as outdoor air conditioner units for emergency maintenance. Our design also minimises any potential risk to human safety, health and cross-contamination.
WSP is proud to be part of the team to realise this vaccination centre in an exceptionally short period of just 18 days, as we continue to serve the Hong Kong community in this unprecedented time through both professional expertise and volunteer efforts.
We will also be partnering with Hysan and Chinachem on the MEP design of the future large-scale commercial redevelopment on the same site.
