What can I expect at my interview?

At your interview, we want to have a conversation to find out more about you; what drives you, and the skills you bring to the role. We’ll explore how your experience fits with the position through competency and situational questions. You may be asked to share examples of challenges you’ve faced, how you solved problems, and how you built relationships with colleagues or clients throughout your career journey.

It is also your opportunity to learn about the role, what success looks like, and the team you could join. Your interview will typically last up to an hour unless otherwise specified.

How to prepare?

1. Reflect on projects you’re proud of, challenges you overcame, and team successes you contributed to.
2. Use the BAR method for structured answers:
   • B – Background: Set the scene in a concise manner. Think what information is critical for interviewer to know.
   • A – Action: What did you specifically do? (Don’t focus on what the team did, focus on your personal contribution - skills used, your behaviours or characteristics that led to success)
   • R – Result: What was the outcome? What happened? How do you know if it was considered successful or not?
3. Research WSP and your interviewers. Explore our global work and check out the people you’ll be meeting on professional social media (such as LinkedIn). What does their career path look like? What’s their perspective on the industry?
4. Keep the role in mind. Tailor your CV walk-through and examples to the position.
5. Review the CV you submitted for this role and the job description so you’re ready to discuss any highlighted points.
6. Be yourself. We value authenticity and a collaborative mindset.

During the interview

• Your safety matters. Join from a quiet, safe, and stable location, never from a moving or parked car.
• Join on time, ideally 5 minutes early to resolve any technical issues.
• Ensure your camera is on and you’re dressed professionally.
• We will ask you questions focusing on your technical expertise, collaboration and teamwork, problem solving, and decision making.
• You will have an opportunity to ask questions about the role, team, and projects.
