Financing nature and the growth of natural capital markets

Look around and everything you see is a product of nature – from the food we eat to the buildings we live in and the roads we drive on. The entirely of our economy is dependent on and embedded in nature. It is in essence our natural infrastructure and underpins our social, economic and political lives. It is our greatest asset but despite its value, we have failed to appreciate it. Economic growth has come at the expense of nature. With its loss, we are facing an existential threat to the survival of our society.
