Seamless Collaboration Wins Top at OpenBIM Award

WSP is part of the top Grand Award-winning team for Hong Kong openBIM/ openGIS Award 2022 behind The Henderson, the latest addition of top commercial development icon in Central.

Organised by Hong Kong Alliance of Built Asset and Environment Information Management Associations (HKABAEIMA), the award honours demonstrations of openBIM best practices or innovation within project delivery and lifecycle asset management in the built asset industry.

OpenBIM removes the traditional protocol of BIM data that is typically constrained by proprietary vendor data formats. This open standard enables open workflow and seamless collaboration of architects, engineers and builders regardless of the implemented software.  

The Henderson receives the Grand Award in the Project Category. As the MEP consultant appointed by Hip Hing Construction, WSP pushes the boundaries of BIM by OpenBIM protocol to tailor MEP design and co-create this new landmark in Central featuring the signature curvy design by Zaha Hadid Architects.

Close OpenBIM collaboration of interfacing among collaborators using different proprietary software delivers better project outcomes, especially in enhancing productivity and cost control. The greater predictability in consequences of the actual site construction greatly reduces error. It also facilitates interoperability to benefit projects and assets throughout their lifecycle, which enhances long term asset management and performance.
