Celebrating 45 Years of Innovation and Beyond in Hong Kong

WSP threw a party to mark the firm’s 45 years of presence and contribution to Hong Kong’s development with our valued clients, collaborators and friends.

On 21 September, WSP hosted a party at sky100, the observation deck at Hong Kong’s tallest building ICC, to celebrate the firm’s tremendous achievement in 45 years with over 200 guests from both public and private sectors.

The joyful event offered a perfect occasion for everyone who have close ties with the office to share their stories along WSP’s journey in Hong Kong as well as visions that shape a more sustainable, Future Ready community for all.

Ivy Kong, CEO of WSP Asia, expressed her heartfelt appreciation to talents in all disciplines who have been part of the WSP’s family during all these years to shape the growth of the firm as well as the city. She also reiterated WSP’s commitment to innovate the future in response to Hong Kong’s development needs, echoing the party’s theme ‘Expanding the Spectrum of Innovation’.

Since the establishment of a permanent office in Hong Kong in 1978, WSP has been providing high-quality engineering and professional services to support the development of this vibrant city. Even before 1978, the firm has contributed to Hong Kong’s extraordinary growth in the early days, including the alternative steel tube design for the twin traffic ducts of the Cross-Harbour Tunnel, and the subway environmental control system for MTR’s inaugural Modified Initial System.

Today, WSP’s cutting-edge innovation can be seen in some of the latest projects shaping the future of the city, including The Henderson, HKeToll free-flow tolling system and Hung Shui Kiu Station.

The Hong Kong office has also been the solid foundation for WSP expanding its influence across Asia throughout the years, exporting talents, design expertise and operation excellence to our current 12 offices in the region.

To enhance our collaboration and knowledge exchange with the industry, riding on the celebration, WSP will host a seminar series during October and November and share the stage with industry experts. The seminars will dive into some prominent trends from multidisciplinary perspectives that will define our future, including net zero, sustainability, ESG, smart infrastructure, and technologies, bringing a deeper understanding of WSP’s strong capabilities and thought-provoking discussions to the audience.
