Founded in 1911, Kwong Wah Hospital is the major acute hospital of Hong Kong’s Kowloon Central Cluster. In 2013, the Hospital Authority of Hong Kong started to redevelop this hospital, as the current buildings were constructed in 1960s and 1980s but extremely heavy utilisation of its facilities for coping with the growing service demand has accelerated their deterioration.
The redevelopment plan involves the demolition of the existing buildings, except for the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Tsui Tsin Tong Out-patient building, and construction of one new hospital block in two phases - with a total CFA of 270,000 sq.m. - together with possible structural A&A works to the Tsui Tsin Tong Out-patient building.
The redevelopment aims to realise a high standard of medical facility within an operating hospital while the current level of service will be adjusted to suite the phased operation.
We have been providing full structural, civil, geotechnical and MEP engineering consultancy to this project since early 2013.
