WSP Projects Win at 2022 MIPIM Asia Awards

This year, three WSP projects were bestowed with Gold Awards across 11 distinct categories. The awards were presented during the MIPIM Asia Awards Gala Dinner took place 7 December at the Grand Hyatt, Hong Kong.

BEST MIX-USED DEVELOPMENT – GOLD AWARD
Heartland 66, Wuhan

Inspired by the concept of the auspicious Ruyi knot in its architectural design, Heartland 66 comprises a 6-storey world-class shopping mall, a 325m tall Grade-A office tower, and three premium serviced residences, becoming an urban landmark in Wuhan with its excellence in design, innovation, and emphasis on sustainability.

Partnering with our client Hung Lung Properties, the development complex has obtained LEED CS Gold for its outstanding energy saving and sustainable features. The high efficiency façade design with good insulation, HVAC equipment, solar hot water system, and energy saving lighting fittings and control system contributed to 16% energy reduction. Various low carbon emission construction methods, materials and recycling of construction waste were adopted, minimising the adverse implications to the environment in terms of air, noise, and sewage pollutions.

TP Link LXD, Shenzhen

TP Link LXD is designed with large terraces for both communal work and private breaks linked by a continuous ribbon of landscape that starts in the lobby and ascends to the building’s highest levels. This unique form of circulation binds together the project’s two office towers which, along with a dormitory tower, are anchored by retail on the ground floor. 

WSP provides a wide range of services, including concept design and preliminary design vetting, HVAC, fire services, electrical, plumbing and drainage, intelligent ELV systems, and lift and elevator, to realise this bold design and reimagine the collaborative space for the world’s leading wireless router provider.

BEST REFURBISHED BUILDING – GOLD AWARD
Link CentralWalk, Shenzhen

Located on the central axis in the Futian CBD of Shenzhen, Link CentralWalk is a green-inspired hub with over 900,000 sq ft retail floor area. Designed with the themes of four seasons, the zoning provides visitors multi-sensational interactive experience as well as access to surrounding urban space from either direction, setting the new benchmark for retail architecture and urban living.

WSP provided industry-leading project delivery management service to Link REIT to enhance the performance of this 5-storey retail mall through extensive trade-mix and tenant-mix upgrade. Our MEP consultancy services, including concept and detailed design, tendering, and construction stage design support, also helped achieve an upgrade in central chiller plant, the implementation of new building management system and MEP systems design.

We also helped realise the aesthetic visions by delivering safe, sustainable and cost-effective structures. We conducted safety assessment for the original structure, carried out structural design and review for the modification, and provided the best structural reinforcement solution based on the site conditions. The hanging load of the newly added ultra-tall LED screen systems in the south and north atriums were analysed to minimise the impact to the existing building. All railings in the atriums were replaced with transparent glass with evaluations to ensure its bearing capacity and reliability.
