What opportunities has WSP offered you?
WSP has provided comprehensive on-the-job training including site training in different fields of civil engineering to equip me with abundant and valuable technical knowledge to handle daily work. It has also offered a variety of activities to ensure my work-life balance and to pique my interest in various areas. I even had the opportunities to perform in a busking session and to learn dancing for a performance/competition in the annual dinner. I enjoyed them very much.
What do you enjoy your job?
When I was looking for jobs back in university, I was actually quite lost and didn’t know what to pursue as a lifelong career. Fortunately, I found my values here in the Transport & Infrastructure team. I have been handling projects that contribute to shaping a better society and making the everyday life of the public easier. I feel proud that every bit of my hard work is instrumental to the development of the society. Therefore, I am really passionate about my job as a civil engineer.
What do you find exciting about engineering?
Engineering is a lot more than just memorising equations, doing calculation and building models. Besides technical issues, we also have to deal with issues such as project management, financial planning and management, public consultation and coordination with government departments, contractors and other external interfacing parties. In this everchanging industry, we apply the latest technologies such as IoT and BIM to make infrastructure more enduring. It is challenging, yet very interesting and exciting.
