WSP Hong Kong Accredited under ISO 19650

The global standard brings our Hong Kong office’s award-winning BIM capability and operations to the next level.

Obtaining ISO 19650 certification enables WSP Hong Kong to uphold the best practice of providing data standardisation framework to systematically manage information under BIM applications, including drawings, models and documents. By facilitating a collaborative approach among all parties in BIM-related project, we help our clients reduce risks and costs, as well as achieve deliverables of higher quality.

Hong Kong is the second WSP office in the region attaining ISO 19650 standard, following Singapore office’s certification in 2021.

ISO 19650 is a series of international standards that define the collaborative processes for the effective management of information over the whole life cycle of a built asset using BIM. The standards consist of five parts, of which WSP Hong Kong has achieved three parts:

  • Part 1: Concepts and principles;
  • Part 2: Delivery phase of the assets; and
  • Part 5: Security-minded approach to information management.

We are delighted to be the first engineering consultancy in Hong Kong to also achieve Part 5, which is in line with our ongoing commitment on information security as certified by ISO 27001.

While BIM is often perceived as the answer to many challenges faced by our industry stakeholders, from clients, architects, engineers, to contractors, there is still a lot of confusion in terms of implementation processes and standards. To drive digital transformation, we need a fundamental change in the working style and a massive shift to a collaborative culture. Our ISO 19650 certification paves the way for WSP to be a pioneer and leader of BIM application in Hong Kong.
