Dealing with the effects of geohazards is a growing priority for governments and organizations around the world. Over time the trend has been that the risks they pose are becoming more complex, and potentially more severe. WSP’s Geohazard Management System provides a structured, proactive approach for responding to uncertainty. For decades, our scientists and engineers have supported clients to understand their vulnerabilities and make better decisions. Building on this foundation, we are now leveraging AI to enhance insight and extend the potential impact of our work when it comes to managing geohazards across a variety of environments.
Through collaborative innovation, WSP has developed a risk assessment platform integrating deep geotechnical and hydrologic expertise with advanced machine learning. It can provide robust, in-depth intelligence to support location planning for new road, railways, telecommunication lines or pipelines, targeted maintenance across existing infrastructure, and effective real-time response. This enables our experts to bring historic and real-time data from many sources into one model, and apply AI to analyse, predict and simulate the impacts of events such as landslides, flooding and wildfires.
For clients with complex networks and extensive responsibilities, the platform supports data-driven decision-making across asset portfolios and regions of responsibility. This empowers infrastructure owners and managers to stay ahead of emerging hazards, keep critical infrastructure functioning, and helps make budgets go further.
