To mark Earth Day on 22 April and promote low-carbon mobility, our Taiwan office co-organised a city-wide cycling day event with Kaohsiung City government. Around 150 cycling enthusiasts from our partners, local cycling associations and frequent users of Taiwan’s monthly commuter pass TPASS joined us and enjoyed the enhanced cycling environment around the city on a ride of about 20km. Frank Lin, WSP Taiwan office leader, was invited to be one of the officiating guests.
Our Taiwan team has been working with Kaohsiung City’s Transportation Bureau to develop a visionary cycling network for the city. Our works include conducting surveys of the city’s current cycling environment to pinpoint areas that require improvement. We also analyse mobile phone signal data to identify potential new bicycle routes. By prioritising the optimisation of these specific routes, we can better meet the needs of cyclists.
As we develop the cycling network, we also help the authority to devise multi-year policy plan to promote the wider use of bicycle for commuting, enabling Kaohsiung City to embark on a cycling revolution for a sustainable community and low carbon future.
