We are pleased to have been named as a leader in Verdantix’s first ever Green Quadrant: Building Decarbonization Consulting 2024 report for the multidisciplinary building decarbonization projects we deliver globally.
With around 80% of the buildings that exist today projected to still be in use in 2050, the report focuses on decarbonizing existing buildings, from the drivers, challenges and stages involved to the services and software available to help.
Among the 10 prominent consulting providers benchmarked in the report’s Leaders’ Quadrant, WSP is one of five firms demonstrating ‘the most comprehensive and evolved services for building decarbonization’.
The report shows that cost remains the biggest challenge to building decarbonization. Our experts have developed a structured, data-led approach to decarbonize existing building portfolios – from identifying the assets that have the most decarbonization potential to the interventions that will have the maximum benefit and the roadmap to follow. This enables our clients to decarbonize at speed and scale while minimizing disruption and maximizing return on investment.
For WSP, building decarbonization is not just about reducing carbon emissions and achieving compliance; it is also linked to a range of other environmental, social and commercial priorities, from the health and wellbeing of building users to avoiding stranded assets. Collaboration and holistic thinking will help us drive sustainability further and faster by putting people at the heart of our designs.
Verdantix’s analysis highlights the importance of collaboration between vendors and taking a digital-first approach to improve energy performance and reduce carbon emissions in existing buildings. Through our alliance with Schneider Electric – also named as a leader in the report – we are exploring how building renovations focused on digital and electric solutions can significantly reduce operational carbon emissions and speed up return on investment for building owners and managers.
