WSP celebrates recognition at HKIE Structural Excellence Award 2025

Organised by Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE), the Structural Excellence Award recognises outstanding achievements in structural engineering across design, construction, research, and application. WSP’s success highlights its expertise in delivering cutting-edge and cost-effective solutions that enhance efficiency and sustainability in the built environment.

Hong Kong Non-Residential Project – Commendation Merit Award

WSP’s engineering expertise was key to the redevelopment of the headquarters for AIA Group, serving as its first urban campus in Hong Kong. The project features a 20-storey Grade A office tower with a four-level lower ground structure, where WSP’s comprehensive structural, geotechnical, civil and MEP engineering services ensured efficiency and resilience. 

Our engineering-led approach addressed complex structural challenges by repurposing existing structures, optimising site access, and enhancing basement stability – significantly reducing construction time, steel usage, and carbon emissions.

Hong Kong Non-Residential Project – Commendation Merit Award

Inspired by the client’s rich textile heritage, KTR350 is a visually striking cylindrical commercial development featuring four basement levels, a four-storey podium, and 23 floors of office space. We provided structural, geotechnical, and MEP engineering consultancy, optimising foundation design with high-capacity bored piles, a combined raft pile cap, and refined excavation strategies. 

A four-corner site layout improved constructability, while an efficient grid system shaped the elliptical tower. Early wind tunnel testing maximised usable space, and advanced safety measures, falsework systems, and future-ready provisions reinforced buildability. Seamlessly integrating technology, wellness, and geometry, the tower exemplifies WSP’s commitment to innovative engineering.
