Power Generation

Various public and private utilities have been proposing high-voltage transmission improvements, including the regional system provider in the US Pacific Northwest, the Bonneville Power Administration (BPA).

Working with local stakeholders and GoldSET to unlock the clean energy potential of the Severn Estuary, where the UK’s largest river meets the Bristol Channel.

World’s largest green hydrogen storage facility being developed in Utah with funding from the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Loan Programs Office will help scale low-carbon energy for western states.

Pushing the boundaries of innovation to supercharge the nation’s renewable energy future, WSP partnered with Meridian Energy to deliver New Zealand’s first grid-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS).

In just 16 months, we delivered a 420-MW natural gas power plant that not only met Wolverine Power Supply Cooperative’s urgent capacity needs, but set a new standard for performance, flexibility and reliability. Now an award-winning facility, the Alpine Power Plant strengthens the grid and supports more than 268,000 customers across Northern Michigan.

Transmission improvement project doubles capacity across 120 miles without disrupting service by using energized lines.

As part of Innovate Energy, a private-partner consortium, WSP is designing, building and converting the existing high-temperature steam system powering Canada’s National Capital Region to a more energy-efficient, low-temperature hot water system to reduce the nation’s greenhouse gas emissions.

Pumped hydro energy storage is an alternative to large-scale batteries, with the advantage of providing long-duration storage.

An Integrated Resource Recovery (IRR) strategy was developed for the Courtice Water Pollution Control Plant and was a first step towards the sustainability of this 68.2 MLD plant. The study searched for technical solutions to derive value from the plant’s waste and to minimize its inputs. The results not only brought focus to the Region, which lead to the IRR option to pursue further into the design and implementation phase, but also immediate improvements with the implementation of short-term solutions.
