Delivered on a turnkey basis within 12 months, Hangar 6 at Abu Dhabi Aircraft Technologies (now part of the Etihad Airways Group) can accommodate up to nine aircraft at one time - including three A380s - for maintenance purposes.
In addition to the 32,000 m2 main hangar, 12,000 m2 of offices and workshops complete the project, including traffic infrastructure and parking lots. The building’s L-shaped design, with clear spans of 180 and 110 metres, optimized aircraft capacity, reduced construction costs and allowed for future expansion.
Frame, roof and technical equipment under the roof were installed fully equipped and “on the ground" before being hoisted. This technique, already used by WSP in France for other aeronautical projects, saved precious time in the construction of the project while minimizing the risks of working at heights.
