Summary: Surging electricity demand in the US, as a result of data center demand and increasing electrification across industries, is adding pressure for utilities to focus on grid resiliency for existing assets and smart grid planning for future assets. To match electricity affordability and load management concerns, capital is flowing quickly to allow utilities to meet demand. A variety of flexible financing mechanisms are emerging to support utilities, such as virtual power plant (VPP) agreements and other distributed energy resource (DER) contracts. As utilities look towards the modern-day grid, resilient assets will also require sufficient insurance for a variety of natural disaster challenges.
This conversation will convene representatives from utilities, financial institutions, engineers and developers to discuss how key stakeholders across the electric utility sector can collaborate to catalyze and scale investments in resilient utility infrastructure.
Panelists include representatives from WSP, PG&E and KeyBank.

Summary: After a year of uncertainty and change, What’s Propelling Sustainability in 2026 brings together leading practitioners to unpack the forces rapidly reshaping sustainability agendas. From uncertainty around climate disclosure requirements to growing expectations around Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), updates to the GHG Protocol, particularly Scope 3, to preparing for increasing weather-related risks, organizations are navigating a far more complex and consequential landscape than even 12–18 months ago. This panel will ground participants in what’s materially different now—what regulators, customers and investors are asking for, and how sustainability leaders are recalibrating priorities in response.
The panel will consider sustainability impacts on near-term and long-term business imperatives, influencing capital planning, reporting expectations, operations and resilience strategies. Designed for executives and practitioners responsible for driving sustainability initiatives, this discussion will offer practical insights into what’s propelling action in 2026—and how organizations can stay ahead as expectations continue to evolve.
Panel discussion followed by networking and light refreshments.
