SAN DIEGO — Rick Curry is bringing extensive transportation experience in Southern California to his new role as a national senior director and principal for the Systems Analysis Group in Advisory at WSP USA, a leading engineering and professional services consultancy.
Curry will focus on travel demand modeling and forecasting in support of future and existing WSP highway and transit system analysis projects. His responsibilities will include corridor studies, New Starts and transit ridership analysis, pricing and tolling analysis, long-range transportation plans and smart city planning.
For more than two decades, Curry has been working on public sector transportation projects as manager of transportation analysis and applications for the San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG), and previously as a transportation modeler for Caltrans, District 11 (San Diego and Imperial Counties). His expertise includes activity-based modeling, international land port of entry forecasting, dynamic traffic assignment and freight forecasting. At SANDAG he led a team of transportation modelers, data scientists, geographers and engineers in the application of an activity-based model for evaluation of transportation projects, regional policies and strategies, and innovative solutions.

Curry is a graduate of California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, and the University of California-Davis with a master’s degree in civil engineering.
