NEW YORK — WSP USA, a leading engineering and professional services consultancy, has been ranked as one of the top U.S. design firms by Engineering News-Record (ENR) in the publication’s recently released annual “Top 500 List” for 2023.
The firm earned a second-place ranking among the Top 100 Pure Designers based in the U.S., and fifth among the overall Top 500 Design Firms, the latter of which is a rise from WSP’s ranking at seventh for the category in 2022. The firm also ranked 22nd among the Top 50 Designers in International Markets for 2023, which is a sharp increase from 41st place in 2022.
This year, WSP USA appeared in three Top 20 categories where the firm was unranked in 2022, including ranking 12th among the Top 20 Water Firms, 15th among the Top 20 Industrial Process/Petroleum Firms and 15th among the Top 20 Sewer and Waste Firms.
Compared to last year, WSP USA rose or maintained its ranking in several ENR categories for 2023, including:
- Fourth place in the Top 20 Transportation Firms category, the same ranking as 2022;
- Seventh place, up from ninth place, in the Top 20 Power Firms category;
- Seventh place, up from 11th place, in the Top 20 Telecommunications Firms category;
- 10th place, up from 11th place, in the Top 20 General Building Firms category; and
- 10th place, up from 15th place, among the Top 20 Hazardous Waste Firms category.

ENR’s rankings are among the most important industry benchmarks and are based on global revenue during the previous calendar year. WSP USA’s marked rises in these rankings reflect the firm’s ongoing growth. Additionally, WSP ranked first on ENR’s 2021 and 2022 lists of the Top 225 International Design Firms, which are based on a firm’s design-specific export revenue generated from projects outside each firm’s respective home country, which in WSP’s case is Canada.
