NEW YORK — WSP officially completed its integration of POWER Engineers on Jan. 1, uniting two energy leaders to provide unparalleled service to the power and energy sector.
Now operating as WSP, the two firms’ combined expertise and enhanced ability to deliver complex projects across power generation, transmission and distribution strengthen WSP’s capabilities as the global leader in delivering energy security.
“This integration marks a transformative step in energy leadership as we address today’s demands and shape tomorrow’s grid,” said Joe Sczurko, president, WSP U.S. region. “The people from POWER Engineers have been an exceptional addition to WSP in terms of cultural fit, project excellence and technical capability. In just 14 months, we have turned promise into progress — advancing next-generation solutions, exceptional service and sustainable growth.”
Since its acquisition on Oct. 1, 2024, POWER Engineers’ technical depth has complemented WSP’s global reach. With the addition of POWER’s 4,000 employees, WSP is driving grid modernization, supporting increased generation to address energy demand and developing decarbonization strategies with cutting-edge technologies like extra-high-voltage transmission and carbon capture systems — helping utilities and tech companies drive progress and meet energy security goals.
“We are stronger together, empowering our internal communities of specialists and enabling them to solve some of the most pressing challenges around energy security for our nation,” said Holger Peller, former POWER president and COO. “By joining forces, our incredible people are able to tackle the most challenging projects and deliver truly remarkable results with, and for, our clients.”
WSP partners with clients on complex projects that deliver efficient, reliable and resilient power using Future Ready™ solutions in transmission and distribution, power generation, electrification and carbon capture. Among them are Ten West Link, a 125-mile 500kV line interconnecting two existing substations between Arizona and California; Propel NY Energy, a 90-mile underground and submarine transmission line; Broadwing Energy Center, a first-of-its-kind gas-fired power plant in Illinois, designed with integrated carbon capture and storage technology; PortMiami Shore Power System, one of the largest shore power systems for cruise ships; and Sandow Lake Ranch, a combined cycle facility for Gemma Power Systems in Texas.
As WSP continues to supercharge its leading position in the power and energy sector, the firm recently announced its acquisition of TRC Companies, a Connecticut-based engineering and consulting company that delivers end-to-end solutions across the utility and infrastructure lifecycle, adding nearly 8,000 professionals to WSP’s ranks. Once finalized later this year, the acquisition is anticipated to establish the largest power and energy enterprise in the United States.
