Jim Wolfe

Former chairman and chief executive officer of Knight (which was acquired by WSP in 2021), Mr. Wolfe has over 35 years of industry experience and is a licensed attorney with deep expertise in rail and transportation. He has provided critical assistance to Class I railroads and public agencies in negotiating agreements including those between the Illinois Tollway and the Union Pacific and Canadian Pacific, allowing for the design and construction of the new Elgin O’Hare Western Access.

Raised in a Railroad family, Mr. Wolfe has held both operations and management roles at Amtrak and Union Pacific Railroad. He served as deputy director of inter-governmental affairs for the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), as well as assistant chief counsel and special assistant attorney IDOT.

Mr. Wolfe holds a Juris Doctor degree from DePaul University College of Law, and a bachelor’s degree from Loyola University Chicago.
