The project required our structural engineers give special attention to below-grade design issues, owing to its location alongside a historic brick building and on a subgrade of variable elevation rock with poor soil in between. We worked with the team in the earliest phases of the project to integrate solutions for the deep basements and varied foundations.
Solutions included a secant pile basement wall system, and providing interchangeable foundation alternates (spread footings and piles) that could be used dependent on conditions uncovered during excavation at each support point.
The tower is aiming for LEED Gold certification.
