The structural engineering team at WSP USA worked closely with bKL Architecture to devise a structure that efficiently accommodated the diverse program elements, including a mid-height multi-purpose gym room, an open lunchroom with a terrace above and a roof-top playground.
By utilizing a reinforced concrete structure, we minimized floor structure depths to ensure that the diverse floor types fit and aligned with varied site height constraints. Isolated floating floors were integrated for sound separation from noisy spaces, such as music rooms and the gym.
The structure topped out in Fall 2013 and opened on-schedule for the 2014 school year.
