The Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton features in-patient medical facilities, emergency care, primary care, specialty care clinics and ancillary support departments. The 515,000-square-foot hospital project also includes a central utilities plant; a 1,500-space, four-level parking structure; surface improvements for an additional 1,000 spaces; site development; and associated supporting facilities.

WSP USA was part of the design-build contractor team responsible for site civil design. Services included site improvements associated with the building, such as landscaping, recreational areas, parking lots, sidewalks, access roads, concrete apron/hardstand, loading docks and curbs and gutters; fencing and vehicular gates; hot mix asphalt pavement; extensive wet utility improvements, and performance specifications for a 24-footwide CON/SPAN vehicular bridge structure that protected the Waters of the United States from negative environmental impacts. Many low impact development strategies were also included in the design of the hospital, earning it LEED Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. WSP provided construction documents for the civil engineering design, as well as construction support services.
