The East building façade juts out like a ship’s prow, cantilevering 66 feet over its eight-story structure. The six-story West Tower façade similarly cantilevers outward, offering an open, column-free area for guests to enter the building. Sloped columns and varying floor plates enable a structural system that seamlessly integrates with the architectural shape.
Plenty of Parking
Further adding engineering complexity, the unique buildings sit atop seven levels of parking. The parking structure mimics the building profile above and utilizes cast-in-place concrete to meet design goals and the spatial demands of the building shape. The structure extends two levels below grade and addresses underwater hydrostatic pressures and methane intrusion with perimeter concrete basement walls and a thick mat and pile foundation.
A close collaboration with the architectural designer resulted in a colorful new icon amid the Los Angeles skyline.
