The sales center and headquarters for the Ward Village development is located in the historic mid-century IBM building by Vladimir Ossipoff. Its iconic brise-soleil shading device was left entirely intact. WSP USA provided MEP engineering and lighting design services for the project.

The building’s mass is expressed through its elegant sinuous skin composed of a beautifully formed concrete brise-soleil. This feature is illuminated by color changing LED fixtures within the space between brise-soleil and curtain wall making the feature visible from the interior.

On the sixth floor the lighting is minimal and subdued while an interior feature wall partition recalls the exterior skin and is similarly lit to accentuate its form.

Custom designed pendant fixtures, shaped to recall the curves of the building, were manufactured locally and bring a sense of scale to the reception area.

Translucent yellow ceiling panels are backlit with energy-saving fluorescent lamps.

Linear fixtures were integrated with the wood plank ceiling to create a bright focal point at the main development model display.

Sconces provide indirect ambient light on the vaulted wood ceiling; adjustable accent lights are integrated in the wood ceiling above meeting tables.

The seventh floor rooftop space was designed as an indoor/outdoor lounge space.

Each unit is individually controlled via a DMX system, with static and seasonal graphic creations from local artists. The ground floor invites views to its signature glowing amorphous yellow core.
