Our lighting design team worked with the California Institute of Technology to support their desire for a highly maintainable and simplistic facility that meets stringent energy goal requirements and budget restrictions within the stylistic and structural boundaries of the architectural design. In responding to the client’s preferences, we determined the controls design (incorporating vacancy sensors, local manual dimmers, and photocells) by balancing the energy code requirements, the University’s design guidelines and our professional recommendations. In short, our design partners and clients were happy with the result of the lighting, notable for its level of architectural integration, visual comfort and energy savings.
