Miami-Dade County recently unveiled the South Dade Transit Operations Center, a first-of-its-kind in the region. WSP’s Angel Chavarria joined Eulois Cleckley, Miami-Dade Department of Public Works and Transportation CEO, on the Transit Unplugged podcast to discuss the new groundbreaking all-electric facility.
This state-of-the-art facility will charge, service, operate, maintain and house a fleet of 100, 60-foot-long articulated buses that will support Miami's 20-mile bus rapid transit line, connecting city residents. It will play an important role in reducing emissions and improving community connections throughout Miami.
Chavarria highlights WSP’s role on this innovative project and explores some of the challenges associated with designing a cutting-edge facility on a fast-track schedule.
From 15 percent to 100 percent design in just 10 months, WSP’s expertise has been instrumental in bringing this ambitious project to life for the Miami-Dade region for a facility that Cleckley described as “embarking on a revolution in transportation mobility in South Dade.”
