Increasing the capacity of production doesn’t have to involve large investment. You can often achieve significant increases in capacity by identifying and designing-out bottlenecks through a systematic review and understanding of the root cause of throughput issues using OEE techniques. The key is to take a closer look at every element of the process, from your suppliers to your waste, and at every element of the facility – including supporting functions.
OEE is the standard for measuring the productivity of a process or equipment. It’s used to identify the percentage of manufacturing time that a piece of equipment is truly productive. By measuring OEE and understanding the underlying losses, we can develop a facility masterplan which systematically improves the effectiveness of a manufacturing process.
