The expansion of Claro Arena stadium in Santiago is finally under construction – thanks to a retrofit that will reduce its environmental impact, even as it triples in size .

WSP is advising on a project initiated by its client DSV, a global transport and logistics company. The goal is to establish a new, modern, future-proof and sustainable logistics centre with a view to creating green savings and increasing efficiency.

The project has a strong focus on sustainability and will be built on a 761,000 m² site in the village of Lund near Horsens. The office building will be certified DGNB Gold, while the logistics facilities will be certified DGNB Silver.

Barclays Center, a 18,000-seat arena in Brooklyn, New York, is the home of several professional sports franchises: the National Basketball Association’s Brooklyn Nets, the Women’s National Basketball Association’s New York Liberty and the National Hockey League’s New York Islanders. At 680,000 gross square feet, the arena hosts large-scale events from sports to music to fine art and more.

As part of Innovate Energy, a private-partner consortium, WSP is designing, building and converting the existing high-temperature steam system powering Canada’s National Capital Region to a more energy-efficient, low-temperature hot water system to reduce the nation’s greenhouse gas emissions.

WSP worked with Ashby Capital and Janson Urban to reuse and grow the existing structure of the Kensington Building, which created larger more effective retail and office spaces while reducing carbon emissions from construction. 

In a first for Melbourne, WSP applied innovative structural engineering techniques to grow this inner city building in Melbourne to one of the tallest timber building extensions in the world. By using the latest in timber construction technology, WSP designed to use cross laminated timber (CLT) to transform the existing six-storey building by adding a 10-storey hotel.
