Through this project, SHC is aiming to expand into the renewable energy market. To bring this first-of-its-kind project to fruition, SHC partnered with our team for preliminary engineering, total installed cost development and Hazard and Operability Study in support of the carbon neutral facility.
This planned facility, located in upstate New York, leverages pioneering modular and scalable hydrogen generation and storage system to convert surplus renewable energy into zero-emission hydrogen. Using all commercially available equipment, SHC is combining existing technologies to develop a proprietary process. The facility includes both Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle fueling stations and high-speed Battery Electric Vehicle charging capabilities, enhancing reliability for electric vehicles while bolstering hydrogen refueling infrastructure. With this facility’s cutting-edge technology, SHC sets a standard for renewable energy infrastructure on a national scale.
Grid-scale electrolyzer
The facility boasts a grid-scale water electrolyzer capable of producing hundreds of kilograms of hydrogen daily. Other features include hydrogen compressors processing from 400-psig to 7500-psig and substantial hydrogen storage capacity at 7500-psig. The building houses a fuel cell generator for electricity output, and commodity hydrogen off-take capacity. Designed with site-agnostic processes that can be replicated nationwide, SHC’s flagship site sets the stage for future expansion across the U.S.
