We are helping to advance several key delivery initiatives, including coordinated adaptive ramp metering and other advanced traffic management strategies, which are designed to improve real-time corridor performance.
We also conducted feasibility assessments for Smart Freeways applications along the corridor, including traffic evaluation and field review. This allowed the team to identify viable strategies for integrated traffic management, and support project advancements aligned with Caltrans initiatives.
These efforts help to ensure that individual solutions are integrated into a cohesive, operational framework, rather than standalone projects.
Funding technology-driven mobility
CCTA secured program funding through our grant support of more than $180 million from state and federal sources, including the Transit and Intercity Rail Capital Program and the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Multimodal Project Discretionary Grant Program.
This funding supports the continued implementation of corridor-wide improvements and reinforces Innovate 680 as a model for integrated, technology-driven mobility investment, and scalable future initiatives that can respond to changing transportation needs.
Focused innovation
Innovate 680 improves how people navigate Contra Costa County every day — as the program seeks to make commutes more reliable by reducing congestion-related delays and helping traffic flow more smoothly across the corridor.
By coordinating infrastructure, technology and operations, the program’s integrated approach helps deliver better mobility conditions and works to support safer communities and economic growth, while also creating an adaptable transportation system for the changing needs of corridor travelers.
“We’re working alongside CCTA to make sure the program functions as a cohesive, scalable solution,” said Virginia Lingham, senior vice president at WSP in the U.S., “and that partnership is critical for delivering both today’s improvements and future innovation.”
