  • Plane trees retained but their elevation raised to improve visibility and light 


Sustainability and circular principles

  • Footway materials were all sourced from within the UK including Yorkshire Paving
  • Reclaimed granite was used in the scheme from the Thames Tideway Tunnel project

Climate resilience

  • Permeable pavement used within the square
  • Pavements specified with high albedor rating to reduce heat island


  • Restored the Grade II listed Cabmen Shelter
  • New cast iron railings were commissioned in 19th century style
