Truck Parking Data Drives Decisions in New Jersey

A deep analysis of truck GPS data helped leaders address truck parking shortages and improve efficiency.

The New Jersey Department of Transportation sought to identify where truck parking space shortages existed in the state and the impacts generated to industry and communities.

To support this effort, we used DeepView Freight tools to process millions of raw GPS data points from the American Transportation Research Institute (ATRI). These tools allowed us to accurately interpret truck parking behaviors across the region, distinguishing between short-term stops, overnight stays and staging parking.

The insight provided transportation leaders with accurate information about which investments to make to best address truck parking shortages in the state.

The results not only improved operational efficiency but also supported long-term planning efforts to enhance freight mobility and economic competitiveness in New Jersey.
