Connecting communities in South Sudan

Our teams based in Bryanston worked with the United Nations to design gravel roads giving local communities vital access to agricultural markets, clinics, schools, water sources and neighbouring communities.

Through their technical expertise in similar projects, WSP introduced and helped implement alternative solutions to traditional gravel roads projects in South Sudan. These solutions considered and utilised existing ground conditions as well as the restrictions of working remotely. Through this collaborative process we feel assured that final product will provide the durability and functionality that is often difficult to obtain when working on remote projects.
The team work and project understanding we’ve developed with WSP over the several roads projects was a great contributor to the success we’ve experienced to date.

As engineers we had, above all, to be aware of why we were there: to build infrastructure that serves the community and suits their needs.
