Meet Our Expert
Mel de Jager
Mel de Jager is the National Director for Climate Change, Resilience and Sustainability at WSP, whose experience as a climate change specialist and leader spans internationally. As a certified professional engineer, project manager, and planner, Mel stands at the forefront of a rapidly growing industry, working with private- and public-sector clients worldwide and across industries to develop and enable strategic climate change plans and programs for their businesses, investments and infrastructure. Prior to joining WSP, Mel led the development of the City of Toronto’s Carbon Reduction Strategy, and Climate Resilience Framework and Resilience Strategy, served as a Cities Consultancy Partner with CDP, and contributed to several climate programs, including UNEP District Energy in Cities Initiative, United Nations COP Conference, Pathway to Paris, and Project Drawdown. When it comes to leadership and corporate citizenship, Mel leads by example, demonstrating the power of leaders who empower people to reach their full potential through their participation in support for diversity and inclusion and innovation initiatives.
