WSP has been a leader in the delivery of creative multidisciplinary solutions for urban and rural development projects for more than 60 years. We are proud of our role in the planning and development of thousands of hectares of land for residential neighbourhoods, industrial and commercial business parks, institutional and recreational developments, and retail and office complexes across Canada.

Our Land Development team is involved in projects which range from small-scale infill and site servicing developments to large, master-planned neighbourhoods – from greenfield settings to urban redevelopment sites. Our approach is to challenge the design basis to drive technical excellence while optimizing life cycle benefits.

We have wide-ranging knowledge of public planning policies and regulations across all levels of government from the legislative environment and its drivers, to factors that influence cost, schedule, and the management of development projects. Our comprehensive understanding of the technical and financial realities of land development coupled with our expertise spanning the entire development process enables us to explore and create climate positive solutions which minimize project schedule and cost risk, and minimize our clients’ exposure.

Our Land Development team helps our clients navigate the complex and uncertain development process, get the most out of their land, and bolster their marketplace positioning. We have in-house specialists in municipal planning, legal, geomatics, geotechnical and environmental, stormwater management, landscape architecture, urban design and transportation planning who routinely collaborate to provide our clients with a single point of contact.

Tees Valley Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan

The Tees Valley Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan (LCWIP) is a long-term £150m investment programme providing close to 92km of new and improved active travel routes. WSP supported the development of this combined plan covering local authorities in Darlington, Hartlepool, Stockton-on-Tees, Middlesbrough and Redcar & Cleveland.

Denmark

DSV Horsens - Sustainable Logistics

WSP is advising on a project initiated by its client DSV, a global transport and logistics company. The goal is to establish a new, modern, future-proof and sustainable logistics centre with a view to creating green savings and increasing efficiency.

The project has a strong focus on sustainability and will be built on a 761,000 m² site in the village of Lund near Horsens. The office building will be certified DGNB Gold, while the logistics facilities will be certified DGNB Silver.

Design of the Américo Vespucio Oriente Highway (AVO)

The Américo Vespucio Oriente (AVO) project is an ambitious initiative in the Santiago Metropolitan Region. Its two key objectives are to improve road infrastructure in the eastern part of the city, addressing the mobility and connectivity needs in one of the busiest areas, and to transform Américo Vespucio Park into an iconic symbol for eastern Santiago, creating a public space that enriches the urban experience for citizens.

As part of a $37.4 million investment in digital twin technology in Victoria, WSP is leading a consortium of technology providers for the Department of Transport and Planning as Digital Twin Victoria’s (DTV) Innovation and Solution Delivery Partner (ISDP). The ISDP is supporting the development of innovative projects and enhancements to Victoria’s digital twin ecosystem, enabling government and the community to leverage the power of spatial data to improve outcomes and uplift digital skills.
