Designing a Safe Wildlife Crossing in Utah

WSP USA is designing a bridge that will cross over Interstate 80 in Utah that won’t be used by cars, trains, bicycles or pedestrians – at least, not pedestrians of the two-legged variety.

One option being considered by Utah Department of Transportation is an asymmetrical two-span bridge that includes a support beam in the median.

The bridge surface will include vegetation and landscaping that resembles the surrounding habitat to encourage animals to use the crossing.
