WSP Finalist at the 2022 ACEC Grand Prix

This year, WSP is proud to have six projects as well as two employees receiving nominations in eight different categories of the Grands Prix du génie-conseil québécois competition, presented by the Association of Consulting Engineering Companies - Quebec (ACEC).

Since its creation in 2003, this initiative provides an opportunity to reward engineering excellence in Quebec and highlight high-quality projects carried out by clients in different sectors, in collaboration with member firms of the ACEC.

Immunization and Major Refurbishment of the Vachon Plant

Category: Building Structure
Client: Grupo Bimbo

In 2019, the Vachon factory was completely flooded, damaging buildings and equipment, and causing significant production losses. WSP came up with an out-of-the-ordinary concept to preserve the building and its operations, and prevent future flooding, without relocating the building.

Development of a Bypass in Rouyn-Noranda

The management of the Rouyn-Noranda bypass project, a long-awaited project and the largest Quebec Ministry of Transport project ever carried out in the region, involved the construction of a lane with two roundabouts as well as a cycling path along the route.

Client: Montreal Public Transportation Agency

In its 2025 organizational strategic plan, the Montreal Public Transportation Agency set itself the objective of achieving excellence in passenger mobility services and developing the offer. It therefore entrusted WSP with the mandate to assist in a shift towards electric mobility, by implementing a demonstration project for a computerized monitoring and control solution.

Lac-Mégantic Microgrid

Lac-Mégantic Microgrid

Firms: WSP/CIMA+ Consortium

Client: Hydro-Québec

Hydro Québec, with the support of Natural Resources Canada and the City of Lac-Mégantic, wanted to integrate the most advanced energy technologies on a neighborhood scale and thus set up the first electrical microgrid in Quebec. The acquired expertise will enable the client to transpose the technologies into remote grids not connected to the main grid, currently dependent on fossil fuels, to reduce greenhouse gas emissions while ensuring sustainable energy production for future generations.

Redevelopment of Hochelaga Boulevard, Phase 1

Firms: WSP/SNC-Lavalin Consortium
Category: Urban infrastructure
Client: Quebec City

The redevelopment of Hochelaga boulevard is Quebec City's first project associated with the implementation of the tramway. In collaboration with the city and its sustainable development division, the design team was able to harmoniously integrate all users (pedestrians, cyclists, buses, vehicles) into a development where everyone can benefit from a main axis offering the mobility of the future, while enabling a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions.
