WSP has been awarded a contract for the smartHarbour Initiative (‘the Initiative’), a collaboration between the Canadian Space Agency (CSA), Public Services and Procurement Canada, and the Montreal Port Authority.
The nearly $1 million contract awarded to WSP will involve the development of “[...] cutting-edge satellite Earth-observation technology solutions in order to follow up on aquatic environmental variables in the St. Lawrence River.” Utilizing commonly used forms of Earth-observed data for developing models, the team will test and evaluate the models with innovative new datasets to reach its conclusions. WSP will work alongside academic partners from the University of Ottawa and Simon Fraser University, as well as industry partners Fluvial Systems Research inc. and Wyvern Inc.
