With limited existing data available, the WSP in Canada team worked with stakeholders across Morocco to identify a number of trees to provide the base for the predictive model, collecting samples from several regions and ground conditions. The work was done during the height of the COVID pandemic, making collaboration with community stakeholders so much more important as the team was limited in the number of trips they could take to the region.
The REFAM project also captured an additional prize, the Ambassador Award, given to “…a project constructed or executed outside Canada that best showcases Canadian engineering expertise.”
